“The most incredible thing about miracles is that they happen.”
[G. K. Chesterton]
Growing up as a Catholic, I’ve heard and learned of many miraculous events that have taken place all over the world. As part of my worldly adventures, it is my goal to visit historical sightings important to my religion. One of them is the peaceful town of Fatima, Portugal. For those who don’t know the history of this sacred little town, let me enlighten you…
In 1917, three shepherd children witnessed several Apparitions of Our Lady of the Rosary. The last apparition known by the Catholic’s as “the day the sun danced” was witnessed by 60,000 people. Now, Fatima has become a pilgrimage destination and millions of people travel every year to gather in the Cova de Iria plaza to pay homage to an extraordinary and sacred event of religious history.
